MOVING TO BERMUDA

Important information relating to moving to Bermuda.
Persons relocating to Bermuda should be in Bermuda prior to their goods arriving and all items should have been in the possession of the owner for more than 6 months before their relocation to Bermuda.


Personal effects accompanied by relocating party are duty free as long as they have the issued TRA, a valid work permit or are a returning resident and goods are older than 6 months.


All of the below forms and documentation are required and need to be returned to us prior to shipments arriving in Bermuda. Any goods that persons bring that are new or less than 6 months old will be dutiable and the entire shipment, new or older than 6 months will be subjected to a Government wharfage fee of 1.25% of the total value of the shipment.

If you import wine/spirts, we will need a complete listing of the types of wine, the bottle size, volume/% of alcohol per bottle and the value of each.


There will be duty/taxes on the wine/spirits and any imported groceries, consumable items or any items less than 6 months old. Rates will vary depending on Customs Tariff codes/commodity.

UNDER WORK PERMIT

If consignee is relocation to Bermuda under work permit.

1. Customs Importer form
2. Bda Customs Valuation list signed and dated (spread sheet of itemized list of
items with declared values. Clothing, shoes etc will have to be itemized
showing quantities. Other items can be generalized with values.)
3. Color photocopy or scan of passport photo page.
4. Copy of your Bermuda work permit.
5. Copy of Bermuda residence/apartment rental lease.
6. Transfer of Residency form (normally given to you upon your arrival Bermuda
airport by Customs/Immigration Officer.)
7. Copies of inventory
8. Any invoices / receipts for any new items or items less than 6 months old.
9. Customs CAPS ID number / Link below.

This is an application that will need to be completed. Once this has been
completed, email this application along with a color scan copy of your passport to caps@gov.bm Customs will email you the number/confirmation which you will need to forward on to steve@bdashipping.bm.

BERMUDA RESIDENTS

If consignee is a returning Bermuda resident.

  1. Customs Importer form
    2. Bda Customs Valuation list signed & dated (spread sheet of itemized list of
    items with declared values. Clothing, shoes etc will have to be itemized
    showing quantities. Other items can be generalized with values
    3. Color photocopy or scan of passport photo page.
    4. Scan of page in passport showing “Holder is registered as a Bermudian”
    5. Transfer of Residency form (normally given to you upon your arrival Bermuda
    airport by Customs/Immigration Officer.)
    6. Proof of living outside of Bermuda for a period of one year or more.
    (preferably a utilities bill in your name)
    7. Copies of inventory.
    8. Any invoices / receipts for any new items or items less than 6 months old.
    9. Customs CAPS ID number / Link below.
